Women’s right have been a ongoing issue for years and years. Women’s rights are important and need to be taking into consideration. Women’s History month is March and there are many ways we can advocate for them

     Women all around the globe tend to face issues like getting paid less then men in the workplace for doing the exact same job. On average women tend to get 20% less money then men in the workplace 

     “Women ages 25 to 34 earned 83 cents for every dollar a men made.” said pewreserch.org

     Only 8.8% of CEOs are women and the rest are men. With this it shows that women have less job opportunities then men. 

     Women now only have about ¾ of legal rights afforded to men. A big issue in the world recently is that the government is trying to take away women’s rights to a free and legal abortion. 

      Ohio had and has been trying to ban all abortions and with this women would lose there right to their own bodies. 

     Women’s rights are extremely important especially in today’s society, everyone should have a voice and be able to speak freely. 

    You can help advocate for womens rights by helping out at organizations and helping at womens shelters.  All women should have the same basic rights as men. 

      In 1920 the government passed a law that let all women vote and that moved us one step closer for equlity for women. 

    Susan B Anthony is one of the best known women’s right activist, she fought for equal pay, the rights of labor, and equal work opportunities. She was also the president of the National Women suffrage association which she founded with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. 

Throughout the United States, certain marginalized groups of people need help. Today, I want to see if we are doing enough to help these groups. From people of color to social classes, to members of the LGBTQ+ community and so many more, many communities are currently struggling.

     The United States’s homeless population is ever-growing, with nearly 580,000 people experiencing homelessness in 2020. The main reasons for the growing homeless population include growing rental prices, evictions and job losses due to COVID-19.

     However, the government is doing some things to help the homeless. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is the leading agency to address homelessness, funding emergency shelters, permanent housing and transitional housing.

     There are many ways that you can help the homeless in the community. The important thing is to do your research and understand them. There are many reasons why a person can end up homeless, and research can allow people to understand the homeless community better. Other ways include helping to educate others, removing stigmatizing language from your vocabulary and many more.

     Another community that has recently been under attack by the government is the drag community. The state of Tennessee is currently introducing legislation that would ban public drag performances. Senate Bill 3 and its companion, House Bill 9, would ban “adult cabaret performances,” including “male or female impersonators,” from taking place in public or any location where a minor could view it.

     This decision is extremely harmful. The drag community is beneficial. It is an artistic outlet full of talented performers who deserve recognition. As a fan of the drag community, I sincerely hope that more states don’t decide to follow this idea, as it would cause so much damage to so many people and their livelihoods.

     Probably the most attacked community right now is the trans community. All around the United States, anti-trans bills are being introduced, with over 350 active. All over the country, these bills are being introduced, primarily affecting minors. The most common are bathroom/locker room bans, youth sports bans and bans/restrictions on transgender or gender-affirming medical care.

     More needs to be done to help these communities, but the most that can be done is to raise awareness for these communities and the harm being done to them. Taking action and raising awareness is one of the best ways to help make a change. Use social media, talk to local legislators, do your research and reach out to members of these communities to help make a change.

  With technology always evolving and video games getting more popular, one student tries to create a career out of it. Junior Logan Seaman has a lot of skills and personality. Seaman’s greatest skill however, is his Rocket League abilities. 

     Seaman is a very good Rocket League player and spends a lot of time putting in the work in order to be great. He has played in recognized Rocket League tournaments and even has played against some of the best Rocket League players in the world. 

      Seaman reveals some of his secrets: “The trick to being a great Rocket League play is consistency. Just like anything else you want to improve on, you have to do it consistently. You have to grind everyday, and the results will come. I try to play every single day, but I often take a break for a few days, and when I come back, I find myself smarter and more confident in my skills.”

      Seaman is devoted to being the best of the best and wants to be a recognized name. 

     With many different game modes in Rocket League, choosing which one to spend most of your time on is a crucial task Seaman had to decide, “I play doubles in Rocket League almost the whole time. When I get bored of it then I will switch to something more fun for a few games but I usually just play doubles. I also play doubles because of the somewhat unwritten rule that the best players play doubles. In doubles you get more time with the ball and therefore more time to individually improve,” Seaman stated.

     While Seaman has played Rocket League for so long, he has met and made new friends.

 “I have met very many people through Rocket League, I have known and communicated with some people for over two years. I have met content creators and streamers on Twitch and Youtube that have a large following and that’s always cool,” Seaman said. 

     Seamen has put in enough work to meet all these cool people and share a common interest that they can form a bond on. 

     Seamen is still not satisfied and wants more with his Rocket League career.

      “I plan on getting a full scholarship to college with my skills on Rocket League, but I am still a little unsure about how all that will work out, but Rocket League has given me many opportunities to meet people, and I want to continue going with it,” Seaman explained.

     At the high school, Seaman joined the E-Sports club to lead his team far in the playoffs with his Rocket League skills. Seaman has put in the work and will continue to grind so he can pursue his future in video games, especially Rocket League.

This March holds the spring equinox. As the first day of spring, this day is celebrated by many. Ostara is a holiday that has been observed within Pagan cultures for centuries.

     Ostara was initially celebrated in cultures across Europe and was a way to celebrate the end of winter and the return of spring. This holiday is the reason many have the Easter celebrations which occur today, such as the use of rabbits, eggs and many other parts of the Easter holiday. While many changes have been made to this holiday, it originated with the Pagan celebration.

     Ostara had originally been celebrated by Pagan people but has changed over time and is now celebrated by modern-day Wiccans as well. The name comes from the Goddess Eostre, who represented spring and rebirth.

     There are many celebrations of the equinox across the world; however, this one, in particular, has been modernized and made popular across multiple different cultures. Originally as one of the Celtic traditions, the holiday was taken over by both Wiccans and Christians. While Wiccans and similar cultures kept the celebration and the meaning behind it relatively the same, in Christianity the festival that had once been to honor nature had been changed to one devoted to the return of Christ. 

     In modern times, this celebration is still celebrated in one form or another by both cultures and people who do not belong to either. Similar to Christmas as well as other holidays, the holiday has been stolen many times throughout history, first with Christianity and now popularized enough that it is now celebrated by a majority of 

 people.

     The Wiccan celebration of the holiday is very similar to the popularized Easter. The holiday also includes the symbolizing rabbits, the tradition of colored eggs and seasonal treats as well as many others. What many people fail to realize is how many of the holidays and traditions come from Wiccan celebrations.

     As someone who celebrates the holiday I personally don’t subscribe to Wiccan beliefs; however, that is not the only group who observes this celebration. This spring tradition is observed by many as a means to celebrate the return of summer and warmth to the earth. Some celebrate out of the spirits of the time and others out of respect for those who have come before.

     While Wiccans and cultures like them have celebrations that are much more nature-focused, the core of the  holidays in both cultures are the same as theirs. With both cultures sharing in our celebrations as well as other things, it is clear to see that despite some people’s differences many are more similar than most may think.
