In the 21st century, peopleβs lives have become so busy they sacrifice at least one thing to maintain their routines–sleep.
Β Β Β Β Among the college students, there is a popular myth called βThe 2 Out of 3 Mythβ: People have to choose two of the three–getting enough sleep, having a social life, or getting good grades because they will never have time for all three.
Β Β Β Β Most people decide to choose grades and social life over getting a good sleep; sleep is underrated by many people even though it is proved as an important health factor.
Β Β Β Β Celebrating its annual Sleep Awareness Week, March 11 to 17, 2018, the National Sleep Foundation is Β highlighting the theme of βBegin with Sleep,β which assures the importance of good sleep health for individuals to best achieve their life goals.
Β Β Β Β βBegin with Sleepβ has the meaning of each day starts out by having a great sleep when others mostly think sleeping as the last routine of the day.
Β Β Β Β For teenagers, the recommended sleep hour by The National Sleep Foundation is eight to ten hours, and they strongly suggest to sleep no less than seven hours.
Β Β Β Β Adults need at least seven hours or more to promote optimal health and well-being; however, many adults are not sleeping the recommended time.
Β Β Β Β Β According to news.gallup.com, 59% of the adult get seven or more hours of sleep at night but 40% get less than seven hours of sleep.
Β Β Β Β The National Sleep Foundation suggests four ways such as to set up a sleeping schedule: no tech in the bedroom, relax before bedtime and control the room temperature.
Β Β Β Β In 2016βs National Sleep Awareness Week, the foundation gave each daily instructions for a better sleep.
Β Β Β Β On the first day, the foundation asks to start the week by making time for the sleep the mind and body needs.
Β Β Β On the day second, leaving a couple hours between eating and going to bed is suggested because it will help the body to reap the maximum benefits of a good nightβs sleep.
Β Β Β Β On the third day, any electronic devices should be turned off and away to bed because blue light from screen can disrupt circadian rhythm and affect the ability of sleep.
Β Β Β Β The foundation also says keeping the bedroom dark and painting cool toned colors on the walls will help for better sleep on the fourth day.
Β Β Β Β Β Moreover, creating a bedtime ritual such as taking deep breaths, as well as stretching and other relaxing exercises can help to wind down and set the mind ready for sleep.
Β Β Β Β On the sixth day, the foundation hints that keeping a piece of paper next to the bed and writing down any concerns of the day before going into sleep can also be beneficial for mind control and a stress-free sleep.
Β Β Β Β Lastly, the week wraps up by focusing on how much sleep is important for everything. The foundation also uses the last day as a reminder to account for daylight savings time, which occurs this Saturday evening.
Β Β Β Β Β Providing valuable information about the benefits of optimal sleep and how sleep affects health, well being and safety is the foundationβs ultimate goal during this week.

Β Β Β Β To improve the schoolβs murals, art teachers Lisa OβDonnell and Michelle Surrena have initiated a project to make a mural out of crayons donated by students and teachers throughout the district.
Β Β Β Β Ideas of having new murals has been previously discussed. Since last year was OβDonnellβs first year teaching at the high school, she wanted to do something special to change the murals.
Β Β Β Β βWhen I first started teaching here, my goal was to make new murals because Student Council had mentioned they wanted to redo them. They issue was we didnβt have enough time,β OβDonnell said.
Β Β Β Β With time being a concern, OβDonnell wanted to find a way to manage the project in the classroom. She believed students could contribute to the mural by constructing it in their free time.
Β Β Β Β βStudents in art are at all different stages, and when kids are finished, I donβt want them playing on their phones. So I wanted to give them something to do that was cool and art related they could work on,βΒ OβDonnell said.
Β Β Β Β Students can work on the three piece project after they finish any projects. As of now, only one board out of the three are being laid out.
Β Β Β Β βThree boards are going to be put up next to each other, and then your eyes are going to be able to move along the boards so they connect,β OβDonnell said.

Β Β Β Β Since the mural is three boards, they need many crayons to finish the project.
Β Β Β Β βWe have been peeling crayons for a year and a half now, so by the time this project is done, we will have included five to six classes of students,β OβDonnell said.
Β Β Β Β The major goal for project is to have it completed by the end of this school year. Surrena believes the murals can be finished as long as more crayons are supplied throughout the year.
Β Β Β Β βOur main goal is to hopefully get it done by the end of the year, but it will be dependent on the amount of crayons needed to finish the mural,β Surrena said.
Β Β Β Β Surrena and OβDonnell would like the help of all students and are asking them to donate any crayons to help the production of the murals run smoothly. The art teachers say any amount of crayons would be greatly appreciated.
