Winter Formal is a yearly school-wide dance and will take place on January 28, 2017.

This year’s theme is New York City, and the cafeteria and gym will be decorated with lights and fake buildings. The tables will have apples placed on them to symbolize New York’s nickname “The Big Apple.” as well.

The dance is a large annual event and many students look forward to it.

Every year, Stow student council holds a spirit week before winter break. Because of the exam schedule, it will be held a little earlier. On Monday, the theme is pajamas. Tuesday’s theme is flannel day. Holiday sock day is Wednesday’s theme. Lastly, Thursday’s theme is ugly sweater day.

Student Council held a poll on twitter asking for feedback on what spirit days were wanted by students. The choices were: flannel day, awkward family photo day, holiday/winter hat day and holiday sock day. Flannel day and holiday sock day won.

“My favorite spirit day is and always will be pajama day,” junior Courtney Graham said.

Exams are held Friday, next Monday and Tuesday, causing spirit week to be shortened.

Students and staff are encouraged to participate.
