Friendships- Courtney Katzenmeyer

Communicating in friendships is very important. Everyone deserves to have a healthy friendship.

It is good to have friends you can go to when you need advice.

Healthy communication can be difficult when you are feeling lots of emotions all at once. Before lashing out about the situation, think about what you are going to say and how it would impact the other person. Being able to trust your friends fully is crucial when communicating with them. Communicating in a healthy way means being able to be truthful about the whole situation. No matter how you feel about the situation, it is important to be honest. Once you lie or say something out of anger, there is no going back, so be careful about what you say. Small situations can escalate into drama very quickly.

Friendships should be honest, supportive and freeing. As friends you should be able to be your true self around them. Friends should help you stay positive even in hard times. Having supportive friends can help your mental health.

When communication in friendships gets toxic, oftentimes things being said to the other person are just being said out of anger. You should not believe everything someone says about you. Things said out of anger are not always true. Avoid talking about things when you can not control your emotions or what you are going to say.

Be aware of the state of your friendships because it is not good to stay in a friendship that is toxic. Toxic friendships can cause quite a bit of stress.
